Show Season is over
Home from the Malvern Autumn Show and after a final flurry our last show of the season is over and we're back in the nursery to put the show plants to bed for the winter.
The Malvern Shows hold a special place in our hearts. As a founding Floral Exhibitor of both the Spring & Autumn Shows we've been there every year since their beginning and after the mammoth 'RHS Master Grower' exhibit we created at this year's Spring Show, we are looking forward to being there next May with our Fern & Ivy display & our Pelargonium display which will feature three of our new Zonartic Pelargoniums. These taking centre stage and hopefully wowing the crowds.
Looking ahead to next year and our show calendar is a little bit different to the norm.. With the changes that have been made to the RHS London Shows, these have, rather sadly, become a venue that is no longer suited to us and so we have decided that, for the time being at least, we shall concentrate on our local arenas. Hampton Court Palace Flower Show will be our only show in the South as we are also taking a well earned respite from Chelsea after more than 50 years of showing there.
But don't think we will be twiddling our thumbs! As ever there are changes happening in the nursery too. Our oldest glasshouse has now become unsafe and must be carefully dismantled and replaced. As this is where the majority of our propagation has been done, it has caused upheaval in the nursery as plants have scattered to the four winds.
And of course there is a birthday party to plan... Fibrex is 60 next year and we thought we'd celebrate. Any excuse for a plant party! So save the 16th and 17th of June 2018. We will be having guest speakers with a variety of fantastic talks that will be fun & useful! Workshops are gong to be held throughout the weekend. The Pteridological Society will be here to talk about all things Fern AND The National Pelargonium Society will be here with their Annual Pelargonium Competition. A full list of speakers, talks & workshop subjects will be published soon. So watch this space for our full programme of events.
Wishing you all the very best of gardening.
