Syn. Davallia pulchra.
A variable species depending on its growing conditions. Found in Northern India, throughout southern China and into high mountainous regions of Vietnam. Unfurling from creeping epiphytic rhizomes densely covered with ginger scales, with upright slender scaly stems (stipes) to 50cm long bearing fronds that are loosely triangular in outline to 50cm long and nearly as wide. With a delicate appearance, this makes  a beautiful fern for the fernaholic. Best grown in full to light shade where the rhizomes can creep along the surface, in fairly dry soil, sheltered gardens only as this is not fully hardy. Can be grown in the house out of direct sunlight or a cool conservatory.
