Collection: Ivy-Leaved Pelargoniums

Ivy-leaved pelargoniums, often sold as trailing geraniums, have glossy, ivy-shaped leaves and a cascading habit. They flower freely from early summer into autumn, which makes them the classic choice for hanging baskets, window boxes and the edges of tall pots, where their stems can tumble over the side.

Where to grow them

Give them a sunny spot where they can trail: a hanging basket by the door, a window box, a wall planter or the rim of a large container. They mix beautifully with upright pelargoniums and other summer plants.

Growing ivy-leaved pelargoniums

Plant into a good, free-draining compost and water regularly in summer, as baskets and window boxes dry out quickly, but never leave them sitting in water. From February, feed with an organic seaweed feed or tomato feed, then switch to a high-potash feed from June to extend the flowering season, and remove faded flowers to keep them blooming. Pinch out the tips of young plants to encourage more trailing stems. Bring them under cover before the first frost and keep them frost-free over winter.

Please note there is a minimum order of 3 plants. All mail-order pelargoniums are grown and sent out in 6cm biodegradable fibre pots, which can be planted straight into compost without removing them. Roots grow naturally through the pot as it breaks down over time.
