Collection: Rosebud Pelargoniums

Rosebud pelargoniums are zonal types with very double flowers that never fully open, so each cluster looks like a posy of tiny rosebuds. They have been loved since Victorian times and remain among the most romantic pelargoniums to grow, in soft pinks, whites, reds and plums.

Where to grow them

Grow rosebuds where you can see the flowers close up: in pots on a sunny windowsill, a patio table or a greenhouse bench. They prefer some shelter from heavy rain, which can spoil the tight flowers.

Growing rosebud pelargoniums

Use a free-draining compost and water once the surface has dried. From February, feed with an organic seaweed feed or tomato feed, then switch to a high-potash feed from June to extend the flowering season, and remove faded flower clusters to keep new ones coming. They are tender, so keep them frost-free over winter and water sparingly until spring.

Please note there is a minimum order of 3 plants. All mail-order pelargoniums are grown and sent out in 6cm biodegradable fibre pots, which can be planted straight into compost without removing them. Roots grow naturally through the pot as it breaks down over time.
